SkyLight Aerospace Structural Lightweight Upgrade Project
Solution:
1. Material Innovation: 6063-T6 Aluminum Alloy
We selected the high-strength 6063-T6 aluminum alloy.
Key material properties:
- Tensile strength: 510 MPa
- Yield strength: 480 MPa
- Corrosion resistance: Passed 5,000-hour salt spray test (ASTM B117 standard)
- Weight reduction: 28% compared to the original 6061-T5 components
2. Precision Manufacturing Process Optimization
- CNC Machining: Adopted 5-axis CNC milling to achieve complex structural designs (e.g., hollowed-out ribs and lattice structures) that reduce weight without compromising strength. The machining tolerance was controlled within ±0.02 mm to ensure assembly accuracy.
- Surface Treatment: Applied a hard anodizing coating (thickness: 15-20 μm) combined with a chromate conversion layer to further enhance corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
3. Comprehensive Quality Validation
- Structural Testing: Conducted static load tests and fatigue tests at an accredited aviation laboratory, verifying that the components could withstand 1.5 times the maximum operational load and 10⁸ fatigue cycles without failure.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Used ultrasonic testing (UT) and X-ray inspection to detect internal defects (e.g., cracks, inclusions) with a detection limit of ≥0.5 mm.
- Certification Compliance: Assisted the client in obtaining FAA PMA (Parts Manufacturer Approval) and EASA Part 21G certifications, ensuring full compliance with aviation industry regulations.
