Joinsda expands its circular economy initiatives through partnerships with global auto manufacturers, recycling end-of-life vehicle (ELV) aluminum to produce high-quality building materials — closing the loop between automotive and construction industries.
Under a collaboration with a leading European carmaker, Joinsda processes 5,000 tons of ELV aluminum scrap (engine blocks, door frames, chassis parts) annually. The scrap undergoes a proprietary purification process to remove impurities (e.g., copper, zinc), resulting in recycled aluminum with 99.9% purity — meeting the same standards as virgin 6063 alloy. This material is used to produce aluminum fence posts and pergola beams, with tensile strength and corrosion resistance identical to those made from virgin aluminum.
A partnership with a Japanese automaker focuses on closed-loop recycling: Joinsda collects aluminum offcuts from the automaker’s production lines (e.g., excess trim from car doors) and transforms them into custom aluminum access panels for automotive factories. This reduces the automaker’s waste by 35% while supplying Joinsda with low-cost, high-quality raw materials.
These partnerships have reduced Joinsda’s reliance on virgin aluminum by an additional 8% (on top of the existing 35% recycled content), lowering annual carbon emissions by 4,200 tons. “Cars and buildings have more in common than you think — both rely on strong, durable aluminum,” said the recycling program manager. “By linking these industries, we’re proving sustainability is a team sport.”
Joinsda plans to add 3 more auto manufacturing partners by 2026, targeting 50% recycled aluminum usage across all products by 2030.
